Every room, one at a time.
Four bedrooms, two private terraces, and the hand-painted staircase nobody had the heart to remove.
A restored family villa inside Taormina’s old town. Four bedrooms, two private terraces facing Etna and the Ionian Sea. Let only as a whole, booked directly with us.
Casa Awaya has belonged to the same family for generations, and it shows: the books on the shelves are real books, the ceramics belong to the family and the paintings were already hanging there. The restoration worked by subtraction, with pale floors, quiet walls and light from every side, while leaving the archways, the fitted bookcases and the majolica staircase untouched.
It is always let as a whole: every bedroom, the living room and the terraces are yours alone, with no shared breakfast room with other guests. Access is through an entrance and patio shared with the home of our housekeeper, who lives on the ground floor: handy if you ever need a hand during your stay.
The lower terrace, under its awning, looks at the bell tower, the rooftops and the bay. It is where breakfast happens and where everyone drifts back in the afternoon, into the shade. The upper terrace is open on every side, with loungers and terracotta pots. At the right hour it puts Etna on your left and the Ionian straight ahead.
You have breakfast with Etna on your left and the Ionian in front of you. It is the reason we kept the house.
Four bedrooms, two private terraces, and the hand-painted staircase nobody had the heart to remove.
The old town on foot, the sea below, Etna an hour away. The slow days you can only have from here.
Casa Awaya sits inside the old town, not on the hill above it and not down by the main road. You arrive, park once, and walk for the rest of the stay: the Duomo, the Corso, the Greek Theatre and the cable car down to the coves are all minutes away.
The house belongs to the family and Paola runs it. She lives in Taormina and looks after the arrival, the tips on restaurants and boats, and stays reachable every day for anything you need during the stay.
Booking here means talking to us: terms in plain language, no middleman, and exactly the house in these photographs. Platforms add a service fee on top of the price; here that fee does not exist, and you pay only what you see.
This house has the best location in Taormina. Tastefully furnished, wonderful views and very comfortable. Paola was an excellent host.
A house with sea views from its many terraces, right in the middle of the best part of Taormina. Paola gave us fantastic recommendations for dinner, beaches and shopping.
Paola’s property is among the best on Airbnb and she is the best host we’ve ever dealt with. Sea views, outstanding accommodations and amenities.
